3360 meters above sea level, Cusco is located in the south-oriental region of Peru, by the translation from the Incas language, Cusco means “navel of the world”, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, modern Archaeological Capital of America and the Humanity’s Cultural Patrimony. Thanks to their archeological remains, such as Machu Picchu and the colonial remains in Cusco City.

Cusco was founded around 1200AD. The Incas endowed Cusco with some of its finest structures – the walls and foundations of all important buildings were hard volcanic rock, streets ran straight and narrow.

Cusco was a sacred place built in the shape of a puma, Sacsayhuaman, the fortress, represents the head of Cusco’s ethereal puma. Some of the bigger stones weigh more than 300 tons. Due to its position was the capital of the Inca Empire.

The most important buildings to visit are the Korikancha (Sacred Temple of the sun) today the Church of Santo Domingo, and surrounding the city are ruins like Sasayhuman , Q’enqo, Puca-Pucara, etc. museums, mansions, churches, the Main Square, the Cathedral, etc.

Cusco city is the departure point to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the citadel of Machu Picchu .

Cusco possesses a very strong sense of history and identity above and beyond the legacy lest in the andesite stones carved by the Incas.
